Texas Dawn was developed by Kenneth Landon in 1985 San Angelo Texas. Its parents were N. ‘Pink Starlet’ x N. mexicana No. 1. Texas Dawn is a very popular plant partly because it sticks its flower high above the water and reminds people of tropical water lilies. Texas Dawn is an excellent bloomer and often has blooms 6 inches in diameter. It is hard to tell the difference between Texas Dawn and Joey Tomachek. Joey Tomachek has a somewhat brighter yellow.
